“One of the most important raw material exporters in Sweden”
Viking Malt AB exports 150 000 tons of Swedish malt to breweries and distilleries annually to all parts of the world. On the 9th of May 2019, the company received the prize “The Food Exporter of the Year” for its successful performance. The prize was given by the Minister of Economy, Ibrahim Baylan, at the annual Food Companies event “Food Day” in Stockholm.
The grounds for the prize were announced by the Vice President of Business Sweden, Fredrik Fexe, to the 300 participants of the event and the prize was handed over by minister Ibrahim Baylan:
“The winner of the year has a long history as a “hidden secret”, it all begun in Finland already in 1883. More than 120 years later, in 2002, the company operated as a Swedish-Finnish-Lithuanian group. When we add 17 years we are in the year 2019 and the company in Sweden exports 150 000 tons Swedish malt to breweries and distilleries to more than 30 countries around the world.
The Food Exporter of the Year 2019 has its biggest malting house in Halmstad på Exportgatan 1. It is the most appropriate location for one of the biggest and most important exporters of Swedish raw materials with export volume 75 % of production and turnover of 750 million SEK. Through the co-operation with the Nordic countries the company has reached a position, where it is number one in the malting branch in the Baltic Sea region.”
The prize was received by Kasper Madsen, CEO Viking Malt and Malin Andersson, Site Manager of Viking Malt AB.
